In my Systems of Belief class, one of the books we are discussing is The 10 Lenses: Your Guide to Living and Working in a Multicultural World. Authored by diversity expert Mark Williams, the book explores how cultural diversity impacts our lives, personal and professional, through the metaphor of a “lens,” patterns of behaviour that are at the core of an individual’s beliefs or actions with regard to nationality, race, ethnicity and culture. So you have the Assimilationist, who believes everybody should just consider themselves American (the book was written from a US-centric perspective) irrespective of their individual or cultural identities; the Culturalcentralist who believes their culture is central to their identity; the Multiculturalist who celebrates the diverse cultures, and so forth.
My partner and I were asked to present the key points on the Colorblind lens by way of a presentation. True to form, I suggested that we use Prezi instead of PowerPoint, and so here you have it, our very first Prezi presentation on the Colorblind lens.
